Men's Hanes X Temp Comfort Cool Black Cushion No Show Socks

Today, we'll review and rate the Hanes Men's X-Temp Comfort Cool No Show Socks.

Overall, these no-show socks by Hanes were highly breathable and affordable.  However, the sock performed poorly when it came to durability and security.  In short, they were good but far from great.

Below we look at how we came to this conclusion.

Construction & Design

Here we'll go over the height, cushion, and branding on the Hanes Men's X-Temp Comfort Cool No Show Sock.

Height

While sold as a 'no show sock,' these socks will rise 3.5" from heel to cuff.*  As you can see in the image below, when worn with a pair of casual sneakers, the sock will rise to just above the collar of the shoe:

Cushion

The Hanes No Show Sock has no additional cushioning along the sole, providing no extra support.

Branding

One feature that we like about Hanes is its discrete branding.  Unlike other brands that have bold logos on the cuff of the sock, Hanes only has 'Hanes X-Temp' printed on the bottom of the toe pocket.

Performance & Comfort

Switching gears, here we'll discuss the durability, ventilation, comfort, and more of the Hanes Men's X-Temp Comfort Cool No Show Sock.

Durability

With a thin cushioning to the sole, these socks by Hanes score poorly on durability. In addition, we found that the ball of the foot began to show signs of wear after repeated use:

If you are active, expect these socks to last you a few months before needing to be replaced.

Ventilation

Sold as part of their X-Temp and Comfort Cool line, the Hanes socks are incredibly breathable, making them ideal for warm weather and athletic use. The instep of the sock features a mesh lining that allows for adequate air circulation for your toes, ultimately reducing both sweat and odor.

Comfort

These socks are suitable for summertime wear as they rely on mesh fabric.  However, wearing these socks during the winter months will leave your feet feeling cold.

Fit Security

While these socks do have arch support, the mesh fabric is prone to slippage depending on the shape of your foot and the shoe you are wearing.  This can be quite frustrating.

Odor Control

Like the Hanes Crew Socks we reviewed, these socks contain the proprietary FreshIQ treatment.  This antimicrobial finish is added to the fabric to help inhibit bacteria growth.

We found that these socks never smelled after a single-use.  But when used repeatedly, the FreshIQ treatment wasn't enough to ward off foul odors.

Seams

These socks feature a moderate seam across the top of the toe pocket.

Other

Unlike the Pair of Thieves ankle socks we recently reviewed, these Hanes socks are knitted in a way that won't transfer lint from the sock to your feet.  This little detail is excellent as it will keep your floors free of excessive lint.

Washing Requirements

These socks require no additional care and can be machine washed and tumbled dried.

Color Variety

The color variety is limited.  Hanes only makes this sock in two colors, black and white.

Value

With an MSRP of $18.99 and a price per pair of $1.60, it is best-in-class for value.

Rating

Overall, the Hanes Men's X-Temp Comfort Cool No Show Sock is good but not great.  The adequate ventilation paired with the FreshIQ makes these socks suitable for sweaty or smelly feet.  However, the mesh fabric provides little support to the sole and may slip off.
